For once in my life, I’m a little ahead of myself.
It’s a miracle, really.
We are (mostly) packed and ready for our voyage on the new Princess Cruises Sky Princess next weekend.
My schedule as a busy marriage and family therapist means that the weeks before I go on vacation are a bit tough – crowded with clients getting in a last session before my weeks away, plus all the normal we’re-leaving-town things that take up time just before you leave.
Up to now, one of those has been packing.
But this time, I’m ready.
Next weekend we’ll fly to Athens, Greece to pick up the inaugural voyage of the Sky Princess. Once aboard, the ship will make these stops: Kotor, Montenegro; Corfu, Greece; Messina, Sicily (Italy); Naples, Italy; and then end the first seven-day leg in Barcelona, Spain. We will be remaining aboard, and the ship will then proceed to: Gibraltar, UK; Marseille, France; Genoa, Italy; Florence, Italy; and then end in Rome, Italy, where, sadly, we will disembark.
Fourteen days in heaven on a brand-spanking new ship!
I can’t wait.
For us, highlights will likely include climbing the city wall in Kotor, and the Mediterranean Steps in Gibraltar. Less strenuous will be seeing the tight passage between Corsica and Sardinia, the Alghero Fornelli Passage, known for amazing views. And then there will be Leonardo DaVinci’s The Last Supper. We managed to score a spot in an excursion that will allow us to see this wonder – we tried previously but were stymied when the ship was not able to dock in Genoa, the port. We’re hoping for success this time.
Come along for the ride! We’re looking forward to sharing it with you on the brand-new Sky Princess!
