Ah, Sanctuary . . .

Those of you who know me, know that my therapy practice is called Sanctuary Christian Counseling. So “sanctuary” has a pretty special meaning for me.

The dictionary definition is “a place of refuge or safety,” and “a sacred or holy place,” depending on your source.

Indeed.

After more than two years without a real vacation, the thing I was most wanting was sanctuary.

Fortunately, most Princess Cruise Lines ship come equipped with a wonderful sanctuary – the front-of-the-ship Sanctuary adult-only section. My traveling partner and I enjoyed this for about two and a half days of our cruise, and it was delightful.

One of the blessings of this Sanctuary is that you get waited on hand and foot – the staff is unobtrusive, but nevertheless there to continually refill drinks, provide snacks or afternoon tea, to offer cold cloths or to help you reposition your cushy sun lounger. It’s decadent but oh, so nice.

And just exactly what we needed after a rough couple of years.
